REA installation guide

Local-first checklist · verify commands against the official repository before running them.

The project and its dependencies can change. This guide explains the decision path; the official repository remains the source of truth for current commands.

1. Check the prerequisites

Use a supported operating system and a current Git installation.
Install the agent CLI you actually intend to use (for example, Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor).
Work inside a disposable project directory and only inspect software you are authorized to analyze.

2. Get the project

git clone https://github.com/morluto/rea.git
cd rea
# follow the current README install command

3. Choose one agent

Start with one agent and one small example. Do not change several dependencies at once; that makes a failed setup harder to diagnose.

4. If it fails

Record the exact OS, agent version, REA commit, command, and full error. Then compare with the troubleshooting guide.
